Dear Conscious Design readers,

It has been a busy month for most of us. I am one of the busy bees ! I have completed and received my real estate license and have a new respect for what these professionals have to know and to do ! It is always eye-opening to learn something from the inside. I envision Conscious Design as an intricate part of the real estate experience.

I hope you enjoy this issue, and have a very healthy happy Thanksgiving. Gratitute is the key word this month. I am grateful for all of you.

Feng Shui For Offices
Companies all over the world adopt FENG SHUI in their Offices- why? And is it worth it?

An Interview with Aroon Ajmera

Aroon Ajmera is an internationally recognised Feng Shui consultant and Feng Shui teacher based in London.

Q: How can Feng Shui benefit Offices?

A: The constantly changing invisible energy forces in an office can have a dramatic impact on the physical, emotional and spiritual well being of its employees and also the health of the business.

Offices already use the services of Interior Designers to enhance the comfort and aesthetics of the working environment. A Feng Shui consultation takes you one step further. It focuses on the energy of space and by introducing subtle changes, converts it into a supportive and harmonious workspace.

By incorporating the Feng Shui principles in the layout of an office, you can positively influence staff morale, creativity and team spirit. This in turn reduces absenteeism and staff turnover. Conflict and internal competition between employees can also be minimised.
When you pay attention to how and where people sit, the colours, materials and the amount of natural light in an environment, their efficiency will soar, making a significant contribution to the success and the profitability of a business.
Q: What does a Feng Shui consultant initially need?

A: First of all, he or she needs the dates of birth of all the directors or senior members or key members of the organisation to be able to work out their character profiles and their relationship cycles based on their elements to provide the management with an insight into the running of a business. This exercise often reveals the level of harmony. The energy of each member's time ahead and the supportive colours are also determined. This can be useful for decorating the private offices of the key members.

The consultant also needs the date the business was established to look into the auspicious time frames for the organisation as a whole. The primary areas of concern for the organisation are also needed so that he or she can focus the attention on the issues to be resolved.

Colors of the Fall
Diantha Harris, ASID, FSII, MPIWOC
Pyramid Feng Shui Practitioner
Color Consultant
We are in the middle of one of the most vibrant times of the year here in the north. The forests are ablaze with the colors of fall, and the varied hues practically sing out their colors.

What do the colors of fall tell us?

The all-round message of fall is "you are connected to the earth and you are safe."

The browns, rusts, yellows and reds are all hues of the earth element, which gives us stability and grounding.

The greens and purples are colors of healing and the heart.
Individually the colors have messages as well.

Brown is the most approachable color, the most friendly and the most trusted. It is comforting and steady, no surprises with brown.

Rust, a muted red, gives us a muted version of red that speaks to us of energy from the plant that is beginning to wind down into the season of rest. It too is a friendly color, warming, welcoming and kind.

Red is an energy that is forceful and persistent. It is a passionate energy, and it does feel when you walk through a woods filled with maples that the energy there is practically bubbling with life. Often the red-leafed maples are interspersed with yellow-leafed ones, and the cacophony of color is so vibrant and filled with life. It's hard to remember that these same woods will soon be leafless and it will be quiet for months on end with the skeletal forms of the trees etched against the cold grey skies.

Muted oranges and golds and yellows, for now, speak to us of fire energy that is waning, like a fire as it dwindles, still warming us, but having released its great force and replaced it with a quieter, gentler one. These three colors often are associated with overcoming fears and addictions, of developing a healthy ego with strong boundaries, good self esteem without extremes on either end of the spectrum.
Yes, it is a gorgeous time of year, but like the sound at an outdoor concert, the main show is over and what remains are the ending notes, drifting out over the land, and the last notes of the season hum to us sweetly: "You are connected to the earth and you are safe."

Sacred Space
How to Read Your Garden and Improve It
Shelley Sparks

People often wonder how to tell if their land has good energy or not. Energy is something that most of us feel but are unable to describe. Even after all my years as a Feng Shui consultant and landscape architect, there are times when I don't initially identify an unseen energy disturbance on the land.

Throughout this summer I have traveled to many parts of America and have had the chance to look at the energy in various places. I was struck by the big differences between the energy from place to place. Even when I traveled through relatively barren landscapes in the South Dakota, Utah and Arizona, the quality of land was markedly different from place to place, which changed the feeling of the land from place to place.

The Gifts of the Earth Element
Diantha Harris, ASID, FSII, MPIWOC
Each feng shui element, except for earth, corresponds with a season. Earth straddles late summer and early fall and represents the season of harvest, plenty, the cornucopia season of the year.

As such, the earth element is represented by the shape of the square, which symbolizes stability. Its archetype is the Peacemaker. If you are a thick, fleshy shape, powerfully built, a good listener and a steady friend, you are no doubt influenced by the earth element.

In humans, challenges with earth include stodginess, stubbornness, being stuck or meddlesome. Positive aspects are being nurturing and supportive, considerate, relaxed, loyal, kind, thoughtful and stable.

Nature Notes
Symbolizing admiration and good luck, heather is also believed have protective powers.

Native to Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia, Russia and North America, heather branches were used to make baskets, rope, bedding, as thatch for roofs and even to flavor beer or tea. Heather flowers are a traditional remedy in Swedish herbal medicine.
Heather flowers through the fall, and keeps her colors until late November when the blooms turn darker.
And, as a benefit, her flowers remain most of the winter although they are no longer bright, providing an interesting landscaping effect when most other plants are dull and lifeless. Thank you Heather !

June Crane is a professional astrologer, intuitive consultant and teacher with over 25 years experience. Specializing in personal, electional and relocation astrology she is a certified Astro*Carto*Graphy interpreter and Level III NCGR.
November 5th the new moon falls at 13 Scorpio, emphasizing matters of security, safety, joint resources, debt & savings, with hidden matters coming to light. Expect these issues to be more prominent this month, both personally and globally. Placed in the 3rd house of the USA chart the focal point will be around places of transportation, education & communication. Translating into tighter security everywhere. The Scorpio theme for the month makes this a good time to review and make changes to existing ways of spending and saving assets.
The fixed water sign Scorpio, represents a time in the year when nature changes phases. The ending of one cycle and beginning of a new one. We can mimic this natural template in our own lives by scaling back on outer activities and making time to honor our spiritual core and soul roots. The desire for transformation will take on a sense of urgency all month with Pluto (transformation, death & rebirth cycle) running with the North Node , the path of greatest growth for us in this lifetime. Reflect on what is creating roadblocks in your life and take steps to jump over, go around or remove that impediment. Now is the time to make changes that allow you to 'rebirth' a life that is in tune with your highest spiritual interest

Small is Beautiful !
Green energy News:
Tim Snyder, Dr. Energy Saver

Last year, for the first time in many years, the average size of new houses in the U.S. actually diminished. According to census figures, homes built in the second quarter of 2009 averaged 2,629sq. ft. in size. But homes under construction in the fourth quarter averaged just 2,343sq. ft. - a pretty dramatic drop.

Recent research done by the National Association of Homebuilders seems to indicate that this downsizing trend will continue. Nine out of 10 builders reported that they're building or planning to build smaller, lower-priced homes in the future.

I Ching Astrology
I Ching Astrology November Tip
Jon Sandifer

I Ching Astrology is the most ancient astrological system. Over 5,000 years old, it shares the same heritage and philosophy as the I Ching, the world's oldest book.
The new month begins on the 7th and is governed by the mellow and helpful 2 Earth Star. This Star is born out of the compassionate and reliable Mother trigram from the I Ching. A sense of fair play should pervade the planet through until December the 7th.

If you are looking to promote your career or find a new job, this month, then brighten up the West area of your home or office. For love and romance, this month, add a flourish of colour or fresh flowers to the East. Avoid drilling holes into walls or major renovations this month in the North East. If you need a raise or simply to increase your cash flow, consider activating Water in the South East... just for this month.
